Sleep-walking

By default, we do not think that there is anything wrong with how we are living our lives. Every day, we wake up, and the first thoughts that surface are memories of conversations, emotions and circumstances of the previous day. Then we continue the same in the current day. We think the same, we feel the same, we do the same.

We believe that everything that's happening is happening to us. We blame others for the negativity. And claim only the positives as rightfully ours. So that when things appear to not go our way, we believe we are victims of people and fate.

This is why it is difficult for us to change. We do not see that there is something to change within us in the first place. We just keep on going because it does not cross our mind that there is something we need to do to experience things differently.

In this phase, we are, in essence, sleep-walking. Blindly, unconsciously, going through the motions and emotions. Not knowing, it is up to us, how we would experience our lives.
